President Jiesheng Liu Visited Kentucky State University to Sign MOU
On May 22, 2025, Professor Jiesheng Liu, President of Guangzhou Huali College, was invited to visit Kentucky State University (KSU), and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two universities. President Koffi Akakpo of KSU, accompanied by Vice President Professor Michael Dailey, Academic Vice President Professor Nyree McDonald, Vice President of International Affairs Professor Eric Yang, Dean of the School of Nursing Professor Mary Ellen Broaddus, Dean of the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology Professor Chi Shen, and Chair of the Department of Marketing Jessica Holman, warmly received President Jiesheng Liu and his delegation for the MOU signing. Dean Shuze Tang of the International School and Board Secretary Yao Ling accompanied President Liu to the meeting and signing ceremony.

Before the MOU signing, a symposium was held between the two sides. President Koffi Akakpo extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Guangzhou Huali College and briefly introduced its origin, history, campus environment, faculty-student scale, key disciplines, professional characteristics, and student achievements to President Liu. He highlighted the advantages of the "1+2+1 Sino-US Talent Cultivation Program" joint dual degree program in Nursing, which will be carried out in cooperation with Guangzhou Huali College. KSU's Nursing program offers doctoral, master's, bachelor's, and associate degree authorizations, making it a key discipline with complete academic degrees and outstanding advantages. President Koffi Akakpo expressed hope to launch the "1+2+1" joint dual degree program in Nursing as soon as possible and looked forward to carrying out student exchanges, faculty exchanges, and applying for Sino-foreign cooperative education projects such as the "4+0" (undergraduate bachelor's degree) and "2+1+1" (associate degree + undergraduate bachelor's degree) programs.

He briefly introduced the history, characteristics, campus environment, and development plan of Guangzhou Huali College, focusing on the disciplinary characteristics and market demand of the "1+2+1" joint double degree program in Nursing to be cooperatively cultivated with KSU. President Liu emphasized the important position of health industry development and nursing education, especially the cultivation of international nursing talents, at Huali. He also shared the International School, the only one in private universities implementing EMI teaching. President Liu looked forward to expanding cooperation between the two universities on the basis of the Nursing major collaboration in the "1+2+1 Program", including faculty and student exchanges, cooperative research, and training.

Subsequently, Dean Shuze Tang introduced Guangzhou Huali College's advantageous geographical location adjacent to Hong Kong, Macao, Shenzhen, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, school scale, advantageous disciplines, EMI teaching programs, international faculty team, and characteristics of international education in English with a PPT presentation. Dean Tang also shared the main achievements and international influence of the school's multi-level and multi-channel international education.

Kentucky State University (KSU, 400 East Main St, Frankfort, Ky. 40601) was founded in May 1886. Originally a normal college for training African teachers, it is now a comprehensive public state university in Kentucky.
